Important results from the project
Mission Food Environment has established an innovation platform to drive systemic change in Sweden’s food environments. A visual system map with prioritized leverage points was developed, and a large number of stakeholders engaged through workshops, prototypes, and policy labs. The project also helped position food environments as a key concept in national policy and research contexts.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to a more sustainable food system through structural and norm-shaping changes in public and commercial food environments. Long-term impacts include improved public health, fair food consumption, sustainable business models, and increased policy capacity through testbeds and collaborative approaches.
Approach and implementation
The project followed its four-work-package structure. After an initial system mapping phase, work continued with idea generation and prototyping, in parallel with national anchoring and learning. Despite some rescheduling, all activities were completed on time and new activities were prioritized. Collaboration worked well, and several unexpected synergies emerged through policy labs, with actors in the other innovation platforms and through joint events.
