Purpose and goal

The overall goal of the project is to identify and characterize at least one functionalization of graphene that give desired properties of the end product / coating. Important goals in the project are: * That synthetic functionalization alternatives are optimized for material properties, quality and manufacturing characteristics. * Characterization of grafting, crosslinking and dispersing properties of the functionalized graphene * Good dispersibility and stable formulation properties * Coating will pass customer test

Expected results and effects

The goal is to achieve in-depth knowledge of functionalized graphene and find innovative solutions that improve abrasion and corrosion resistance of the end product. The knowledge is spread through the participants in the project and will provide new knowledge about manufacturing. The ambition is to find better product solutions that strengthen the competitiveness of the participating parties. The parties will have a significantly improved insight into research on functionalized graphene and a strong network, results will also be presented within the network for the SIO grafen.

Planned approach and implementation

In the project, ANS will act as project leader with overall responsibility for the project. Alfa Laval is responsible for evaluating the surface coating in its in-house test facility and acting as end user. The material manufacturer SHT has extensive experience from the graphene and will work near Chalmers around functionalization and delivery of material to ANS. Characterizations of grafting, cross-linking and dispersion properties are carried out by Chalmers and SHT. ANS stands for formulation and early evaluation of the coating.
