Purpose and goal

This program aims to involve 5 doctoral students in cutting-edge financial research to ensure that talented PhD students will pursue a research career in financial economics. This project will eventually help finance the participation of Ph.D. students in their course work, and the production of several working papers that will be part of students´ Ph.D. thesis.

Expected effects and result

We expect that this program will support 5 doctoral students who will do research in a number of research projects led by senior researchers at HHS Institutionen for Financial Economics and SHoF. The projects aim to analyze how companies and financial actors are affected by (1) sharp changes in market conditions in general; (2) new climate regulations; (3) the increasing share of capital in sustainable investments.

Planned approach and implementation

Vinnova´s funding together with the funds of Jacob Palmstierna´s foundation for financial research will support approximately 5 Ph.D. students, for 4 years. The PhD program consists of two years of course work (scientific Master), and on average three years of research for the completion of the thesis. During the little less than four years of the project, SHoF together with the finance department of SSE will select 5 students and offer to fund their course work and the production of several working papers that will be part of the students´ Ph.D. thesis.
