Important results from the project

The feasibility study was carried out according to plan and mapped capacity building efforts in the public sector, identified needs and bottlenecks, and in interaction with stakeholders (authorities, civil society and business) identified around 50 possible reforms and professional improvements, analyzed based on potential for scalability and cost-effectiveness. The work resulted in concrete suggestions for future public calls for proposals and recommendations for new capacity building efforts.

Expected long term effects

In the longer term, the project can have significant effects by: -Professionalizing and quality-assuring public procurement -Reducing fragmentation and ad-hoc solutions through international comparison and national benchmarking -Strengthening follow-up, learning and benefit realization in implemented public sector interventions -Providing a knowledge base for better national governance

Approach and implementation

A literature review and an interview study with around 40 participants from many authorities, civil society and the public sector were carried out. In close collaboration with stakeholders, two workshops were held. Based on this data, around 50 proposals were developed for future public calls for proposals and new capacity-building efforts. The project analyzed the conditions for scalability, quality and cost-effectiveness, presented a priority list and compiled international examples.
