Purpose and goal
EVIDENT 2 aims to increase trust in simulation and enable reliable virtual verification and validation of ADAS and AD systems. It develops methods to ensure correlation and alignment between virtual and physical tests and to quantify the credibility of simulation, supporting industry adaption and regulatory acceptance of simulation-based testing. The project aims to accelerate efficient testing, reduce costs, and improve road safety by enabling scalable, simulation-based validation.
Expected effects and result
The project aims to deliver a methodology for analysing and assessing the credibility of simulation-based validation, enabling regulatory acceptance and wider industry adoption. It will reduce reliance on physical testing, lower costs, accelerate AD/ADAS development, and improve road safety while strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish companies and supporting sustainable transport.
Planned approach and implementation
EVIDENT 2 applies a structured approach combining simulation and real-world testing. The project develops credibility metrics, digital scenarios, as well as sub-model validation, and analyses and correlates results from virtual and physical testing. Close collaboration with industry and safety rating bodies (e.g. Euro NCAP) ensures the developed methods´ relevance and applicability.
