Important results from the project
The project will develop a modification systems for recycled fibers using green chemicals to strebgthen the fiber network in cardboard materials. With this technique, the goal is that 20% of the raw material to be reduced in the manufacture of gypsum board. The result is a significant reduction in CO2 emissions for the building materials industry.
Expected long term effects
We have developed several new ´green´ formulations which then tested to increase the strength of the raw material used in gypsum board. We managed to increase the strength by using our formulations and managed to reach the levels that were set to test the technology on a larger scale.
Approach and implementation
The technology is based on green catalysis and the formulations were mixed with the raw material which was then made into sheets. Thereafter, the strength was measured. It was much higher than the one for the reference material not treated in accordance with the new environmentally friendly technology.
