Venture Transforming HealthCare Systems
Call Innovation for more individualised prevention in care and social care - International call for collaboration within the partnership Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS JTC2024)

Purpose and goal

ePreventPsych aims to evaluate and implement innovative digital tools for identifying individuals at increased risk of psychosis and associated life-shortening physical conditions. These tools include web-based strategies to engage the public and detection algorithms applied to electronic health records in primary and specialist care. Additionally, an algorithm assesses the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease in individuals newly diagnosed with psychosis.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to reduce the individual and societal burden of psychotic disorders by enabling earlier identification and intervention. Through the use of digital tools and analysis of health records, early detection of psychosis risk and associated physical health risks will be enhanced. Expected outcomes include improved implementation of preventive strategies and personalized treatments within healthcare systems.

Planned approach and implementation

The project incorporates digital outreach strategies via the web and predictive algorithms for analyzing healthcare data. These methods are validated and deployed across five European countries, including Sweden. Additionally, the project tackles legal, technical, and ethical challenges to ensure sustainable, long-term integration into healthcare systems. Lastly, a pilot implementation is carried out within local healthcare settings.
