Purpose and goal
The project´s focus on the materials handling industry is based on the fact that the industry is already important today for creating a more sustainable society, which is expected with the need for a more circular - and resource-efficient economy. Up to 50 percent of society´s climate emissions are a direct result of a linear management of our material flows. The project´s intention is to perform three fossil- and emission-free system solution demonstrations for medium-sized work machines while maintaining productivity and customer acceptance.
Expected results and effects
The overall goal is to demonstrate fossil- and emission-free system solutions for medium-sized work machines in three different demonstrations. This is done in close collaboration with companies in both industry and contracting that handle materials and have as a boundary condition to maintain productivity and operator acceptance to ensure accelerated and broad market introduction. The project also works actively to ensure that the solutions presented attract more women to the industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is divided into 11 work packages, which start with site and process analysis to map the work tasks and make a current situation description, which is expected to provide valuable input for optimizing energy efficiency in future material handling systems and an ongoing development, with possible early evaluation of a prototype. The work packages also include energy storage, questions about infrastructure, charging, acceptance, environmental effects and system demonstrations.
