Important results from the project
DTCC achieved its goals and strengthened Sweden´s position in digital twins. The project created ca fifty associated projects, secured 100 MSEK in new funding, and met all KPIs. New collaborations were established, including the Swedish Digital Twin Hub and international partners such as GATE and the Local Digital Twin Forum. DTCC Platform was developed as an open resource. The project has had a long-term impact on sustainability, smart city development, and industrial innovation.
Expected long term effects
DTCC strengthens Sweden’s role as a global leader in digital twins, driving adoption in urban planning, infrastructure, and sustainability. The open-source DTCC Platform enhances long-term city planning, environmental impact, and decision-making. By integrating AI-driven geospatial analysis and circular economy models, DTCC fosters innovation, business opportunities, and resource efficiency. Its work ensures lasting impact through global collaborations, education, and smart city development.
Approach and implementation
DTCC successfully completed all planned projects, though adjustments were made in dialogue with partners and with strong support from the Board. Over time, the Digital Twin concept evolved from hype to a mature framework, shaping the center’s activities. Some partners left due to unforeseen circumstances, including closures, but were replaced by new partners, ultimately strengthening the center. Collaboration functioned well, ensuring steady progress and adaptability.
