Important results from the project
The project met its goals by developing and demonstrating a software solution that can classify alcohol impairment in real time, contributing to a safer working environment for drivers. A large-scale data collection effort in an naturalistic environment, including simulator-based testing with truck drivers, validated the software’s effectiveness. Regulatory requirements from Euro NCAP and General Safety Regulation (GSR) were integrated into the project, ensuring compliance.
Expected long term effects
The project delivered validated software for real-time impairment detection, supported by simulator data collection and real driving. A dashboard enabled real-time monitoring. Positive feedback from drivers and fleet operators highlighted its safety impact, while compliance with Euro NCAP regulations expanded its future potential.
Approach and implementation
The project was executed through structured milestones and regular stakeholder meetings. Data collection in a simulator and real-driving environments validated the AI models. Regulatory requirements from Euro NCAP and General Safety Regulation (GSR) were analyzed and integrated. Progress was tracked via presentations and demos, ensuring alignment and transparency.
