Call Collaboration on commercial applications with graphene (autumn 2022)

Important results from the project

The project has led to further development of CorroNite as an alternative to hard chrome in hydraulic cylinders. The goal of fully developing and demonstrating CorroNite as an alternative to hard chrome is ongoing. Rig testing carried out at project partner Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has shown very good results including with PFAS-free seals, comparable to the reference material hard chrome. The project has led to the discovery of new properties and possible areas of use for CorroNite.

Expected long term effects

Based on the project´s results, it is hoped that new collaborations and projects can be initiated to further develop and implement CorroNite in more applications and with more actors, both in Sweden and internationally. The long-term effect of this is that CorroNite constitutes a fully satisfactory alternative as a solution for applications in tribological contact that require corrosion protection, which in turn can contribute to the phasing out of hard chrome.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in close collaboration with the project partners involved. The collaboration has worked very well with recurring meetings every two weeks throughout the project where results and further activities have been discussed and planned. In addition, larger meetings have been arranged for status reviews, to summarize overall progress and set further plans.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
