Project duration November 2024 - December 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Strategic innovation program SIO Grafen

Purpose and goal

The aim is to continue the work with the national network for younger researchers in 2D materials which began with a feasibility study in 2021 to 2022 and which then continued as a strategic project during 2023 - 2024 to create further interactions between younger researchers and between academia and industry towards Swedish innovation in the area of 2D materials. We aim to have more than 50 network members, and 10 universities represented in the network by the end of 2025.

Expected effects and result

We have in 2023 - 2024 established a modus operandi for the network moving from almost monthly digital meetings to focusing more on two physical meetings and a few targeted online seminars. Several collaborations have started as a result of activities within the project. This is in line with the project´s main goals for 2025 around knowledge dissemination, exchange of ideas, and building a national structure that promotes collaboration between young researchers towards graphene innovation.

Planned approach and implementation

The work going forward will focus on 1) Planning and implementation of digital meetings/seminars (2 h) to be arranged when opportunity/need arises; 2) two physical meetings: the two-day annual workshop and a two-day topical event (focus tbd); 3) Mobility grant aimed at young researchers who want to carry out shorter guest stays at Swedish universities, research institutes, or industry. We will also work on a strategy towards continuation of the network after closing of the innovation programs.
