Important results from the project

The ground supply box shall provide environmentally friendly ground support to parked aircraft. The goal was to test and validate functionality and applicability for the ground support service pit. After investigation, the two main areas of application we focused on were remote parking at airports and maintenance hangars. We have been able to successfully adapt and equip the developed ground support pit to provide 400Hz, 50Hz, PreConditioned Air and Grounding and Pneumatics.

Expected long term effects

The goal was to test and validate functionality and applicability for the ground support service pit. The two main application areas we focused on are remote parking at airports and maintenance hangars. Developed standard configurations for the selected application areas have been tested and validated. The configurations include the provision of 400Hz, 50Hz, PreConditioned Air and Grounding as well as Pneumatics. After completing the project, we can provide environmentally friendly and resource-efficient solutions for remote parking and maintenance hangars.

Approach and implementation

This project has been implemented in 4 subprojects. These include a feasibility study, development of technical specification for different uses, testing and validation of prototype as well as technical evaluation and documentation. Due to the pandemic, we have had to adapt work packages as travel was not possible. We have done more work digitally and less manufacturing of components than planned. Therefore, more time has been devoted to simulation and digital methods instead of manufacturing physical components and physical tests of these configurations.
