The aim was to use new technology (Augmented Reality) to find models and systems to facilitate the recruitment and the availability of specialists (operating remotely), and increase quality assurance in the transfer of skills between employees. The purpose and objective of the project has been fulfilled with an emphasis on exploring how new technologies can support operations remotely, and enhance quality assurance. In summary, does the new technologies, and in particular Augmented reality, a vital function to support processing industry.

Approach and implementation

Four workshops and two case studies (Operations remotely - ABB FACTS and quality assurance - Gyproc) have been completed. The focus has been to examine how new technology could be used to save resources, bridging cultural differences and increase the availability of specialist (ABB). In the case of Gyproc, the focus was how quality can be improved by go from paper instructions to using new technology. A third issue has been about generation challenges but this area has not a specific case study but where the issue has been addressed in other studies.
