Important results from the project

With interviews, workshops, literature studies and with iteration between analysis and synthesis, three Miro boards and a maturity model have been developed. These can support companies in planning their transition to a circular economy, which includes aspects such as norms, strategies and operational activities linked to product design, ecosystems and business models. At the same time, important conclusions have been drawn about the need to handle issues around goals and metrics in relation to a transition to circular economy and the need to experiment and lead innovation work.

Expected long term effects

Ten workshops, three articles and a maturity model have been produced in the project. At the same time, the most important result is the learning that has arisen among all parties involved and the activities that have been carried out internally in the companies and which now lead to new models for organizing and leading the transition to a circular economy. The results will be used further in new companies and they also have great opportunities to influence additional companies, not least because the results are included in the education of engineers.

Approach and implementation

The project was of course affected by the pandemic and workshops that were planned as full days with physical meetings had to be shorter meetings at a distance. It has worked well even though we feel that the participants lack the inspiration and informal exchange of experience that physical meetings provide. The tool Miro was used for communication, bridging between meetings, and documentation. The design of the project has served its aim: we have induced experience sharing and reflection and we have mixed analysis with synthesis and conducted joint model development.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
