Purpose and goal
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project aims to design a climate-reduced concrete element using crushed demolition waste as aggregate and recycled flat glass as a substitute for cement. The goal of the project is that by a systems approach optimize the crushing process of demolition waste, use crushing products as a resource in new climate-reduced prefab elements and verify climate impact by LCA. Thus the waste becomes a resource in new buildings and contributes to developing industrial and urban symbiosis and circular economic business models for new building products.
Expected effects and result
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In the short term, the project reduces the extraction of virgin material, the construction waste and the same time reduces climate impact. In the long term, value cycles for materials derived from construction waste are developed and circular economic transformation of the construction sector takes place. The work process is documented as guidelines for requirements and use of concrete design standards with alternative cement and aggregates and production of circular, climate-reduced elements in collaboration with industrial project partners.
Planned approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project i carried out cross-sectorial and multidisciplinary due to the complexity and scientific challenge along the value chain for concrete waste. Two technical, a logistics+LCA and a knowledge dissemination work package enables new technology for recycling of concrete and flat glass; technical protocols for application in new concrete and production of concrete element; logistics in urban environment with material terminal and LCA; knowledge dissemination among industry/ municipality/ academia through co-creation during the project
