Important results from the project

Holistic project with the aim to recycle concrete and glass in circular climate-reduced concrete, accounting för transport and logistics and LCA. Technical maturity level for concrete has increased from level 5 to 7 and for glass from level 3 to 5. The work is done locally, the municipality is the driving force with applying the circular climatereduced concrete in a project. Verified LCA shows that recycling brings on climate reduction. We are meeting the goals we set from the beginning.

Expected long term effects

The recycling chain for concrete is established. Circular aggregate and circular climate-reduced concrete are trusted products, combined with virgin ones. Local solutions for recycling are spread to other municipalities. The municipality leads circular construction in procurement, material terminals. Recycling of concrete, masses, energy ashes is integrated and shares infrastructure, transport and material terminals. Municipality/industry/academia co-create the circular climate-reduced society.

Approach and implementation

The project has 5 work packages: project management, technical work packages for circular aggregate/industrial upscaling and for circular climatereduced concrete, transport and logistics and result dissemination. The project changed case to Viskans park where circular climatereduced concrete is planned to be used. The municipality´s leading role has accelerated the project. Two doctoral students and a postdoc and several thesis workers have been connected in co-creation processes with partners.
