Purpose and goal
The project aims to deepen the collaboration between Swedish and UK partners to strengthen the capacity for clinical studies of 3D-printed prosthetic and orthotic devices. The goal is to gather a European consortium that unites healthcare, academia and industry, to enable future large-scale studies and shared development in the field.
Expected effects and result
The project will result in a European network and a shared concept for conducting clinical studies of 3D-printed prosthetic and orthotic devices. A pilot study will test the approach and provide input for larger future studies. The expected effects include strengthened capacity, improved coordination among actors, and better conditions for developing and validating innovative, safe and sustainable assistive devices.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is implemented in four steps: joint planning and needs analysis, development of a concept for clinical validation and a pilot study, building a European network and finally planning a future consortium and project application. The work is carried out in close collaboration between Swedish and British partners through meetings, study visits and joint activities.
