Purpose and goal
The objective of the project is to develop an autonomous drill core scanner capable of acquiring data with much higher throughput than what is possible today and with less human interaction. The new system will enable further advancements in the digitalization of the core logging workflows in the mining industry.
Expected effects and result
Through the project, the new system will be designed, developed, and validated in the operational mining environment. The participating partners will acquire operational feedback on the robustness and performance of the new technology.
Planned approach and implementation
The work plan is structured into five work packages to be implemented over the course of 24 months. The project includes several significant R&D challenges, notably in terms of autonomous data acquisition. The geological data acquired faster and in a more autonomous manner will enable targeted mining which means better access to the minerals in demand, better knowledge of deposit composition, and better waste utilization.
