Reference number
Coordinator Lindholmen Science Park AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 8 100 000
Project duration June 2021 - October 2025
Status Completed

Important results from the project

ASTER has established a vital national collaboration arena for sustainable e-commerce, engaging over 100 stakeholders from industry, the public sector, and academia. By developing and driving 21 innovation projects, ASTER has addressed critical e-commerce issues. Results include the Industry Agreement for Fossil-Free Delivery, which standardized terms and increased fossil-free transport, and the E-com ready tool, proven to reduce costs and carbon footprints for e-commerce packaging.

Expected long term effects

ASTER has paved the way for the retail sector´s system transformation through new forms of collaboration and access to innovation funding. The program has generated knowledge and practical solutions to equip the industry for the future and strengthen competitiveness. By bridging the gap between academia, innovation, and practice, a new collaborative culture has been established. ASTER highlights how e-commerce can be a strategic enabler for green transition rather than an environmental burden.

Approach and implementation

The program was led by Lindholmen Science Park and Lund University in a triple-helix collaboration. The work relied on three pillars: program management, project development, and communication. A flexible agenda allowed rapid mobilization around retail sustainability challenges. ASTER acted as funder, innovation coach, knowledge sharer, and project manager, which was crucial for progress. The neutral platform enabled unique collaborations creating a strong foundation for joint problem-solving.
