Important results from the project
The work focused on preparing and finalizing the application to the HORIZON-JU-CBE-2025-IA-03 Scaling-up nutritional proteins from alternative sources call. A strong, cross-sectoral consortium was established and a complete proposal was developed. The project also created new collaborations and networks that strengthen the opportunities to scale up circular protein processes. In addition, gender perspectives and consumer aspects were integrated to increase relevance and inclusion.
Expected long term effects
If the CBE-JU 2025 application is granted the project is expected to contribute in the long term to strengthening Europe´s food bioeconomy by reducing dependence on imported proteins and developing circular value chains. Through a strong international consortium, the conditions are created for scale-up to TRL 7, new markets and inclusive solutions that increase competitiveness, resource efficiency and food safety.
Approach and implementation
The project followed the plan with two main activities: consortium building and preparation of the EU-proposal. The work was carried out according to the schedule, with well-functioning collaboration between academia, industry, SMEs and consultants. The right competencies were identified and integrated, resulting in a complete consortium. No major external obstacles arose, and the collaboration contributed to high quality in the deliveries.
