Call Innovative collaborations with Singapore in quantum and synthetic biology - stage 2

Purpose and goal

The purpose and goal of the project is to establish scientific collaborations between Microbial chemistry, Uppsala University and three excellent partners in Singapore to advance synthetic biology and the concept Green cell factories with focus on novel strains, biosensors, and product separation.

Expected effects and result

Establish scientific collaborations with three excellent partners in Singapore developing synthetic biology and the concept Green cell factories. A joint workshop, strains of fast-growing cyanobacteria containing needed genetic constructs and producing selected hydrocarbons, cyanobacteria cells with introduced biosensors, demonstration and use of novel, product specific membranes for separation, and joint collaborative research project proposals.

Planned approach and implementation

In collaboration with excellent scientists in Singapore with unique and complementary competences conduct a joint workshop, develop strains of fast-growing cyanobacteria containing needed genetic constructs and producing selected hydrocarbons, develop cyanobacteria cells with introduced biosensors, demonstrate and use of novel, product specific membranes for separation, and write joint collaborative research project proposals.
