Important results from the project
The purpose of this project was to analyze and publish collected material, to disseminate the model nationally and internationally and to initiate the development of a prototype for a digital game. All of these have been met. The results of the pilot study are published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Through an information campaign, the model has been spread to 5 municipalities and implemented in over 30 schools. The model is presented at several conferences. We have created and tested an analog version of a game to facilitate dissemination.
Expected long term effects
The project has attracted attention in regional and national media (newspapers, radio, TV). In addition to dissemination via the scientific article, we have presented the result at the Transport Forum in Linköping and at the World Wintercycling congress in Calgary. To enable further research and upscaling, we have applied for funds from Vinnova and been granted within Innovations for Sustainable Society and UDI step 1 for the SICTA project - Sustainable Innovation for Children Transporting Actively. The vision is that in the future, at least 80% of all children walk or bike to school.
Approach and implementation
One of the basic principles of our project is empowerment (a high degree of end-user participation) and our model is built in close collaboration with children, teachers and students. The extensive data collection that was done during Cykel+Minus has been analyzed and published. Based on the experiences and research results generated in the pilot project, the model has been further developed and spread to more users. The dissemination has, among other things, been carried out through an information campaign in collaboration with Region Norrbotten to five municipalities.
