Important results from the project
In the project we have developed guidance for requirements in land allocation processes; outlining criteria for more systematic follow-up of sustainability aspects. Implementation has begun in several pilot projects, although its broader impact will materialize over time, considering the long lead times in the construction process. A secondary project objective was to initiate a structured collaboration for the long-term governance of the guidance. The document is available via SKR’s website.
Expected long term effects
Increased gender equality and inclusion Reduced climate impact through improved land allocation processes More time- and resource-efficient land allocations through digitalisation Strengthened competition and broader participation among developers Establish collaborative frameworks between municipalities and construction sector stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships and reduce costs for all parties during the land allocation phase Promote greater consistency and transparency
Approach and implementation
We carried out the project in three phases: development of guidelines, testing in municipal processes and a plan for future management. The dissemination has been broad, and over 20 municipalities have tested the guidelines. Important lessons learned included restrictions of technical requirements, the need for flexibility and difficulties in setting biodiversity requirements. The guidelines for requirements on construction finance and implementation capacity proved particularly valuable.
