Important results from the project
The goals have been met and the project has thus created better conditions for future projects to better manage the many complexities that need to be handled within the mining industry, including those related to the value chain, planning the mine´s lifespan, choosing a maintenance strategy and ambition, as well as personnel planning, their roles, relationships and competencies. The project approach supports joint work in Industry, Academia, Government, Civil Society and Environment.
Expected long term effects
Production and business processes, which are very rarely implemented as interconnected today, can in the future be designed as "flows" and "chains" with the necessary integrated information, based on the project´s approach. This can create a common language for a variety of experts and roles to facilitate joint work within the company. Örebro University´s new master´s program in data-driven product and production development will carry the project contents forward for a long time to come.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out as planned (Örebro University, mechanical engineering, Umeå University, computing science, Epiroc Rock Drills AB, Kaunis Iron AB, MinProc Analys AB) and according to planned work packages. All organizations had staff turnover during the project, which was resolved and the project progressed according to schedule. Project cooperation went well, especially given staff turnover, and we are working for continued cooperation in ongoing and especially new projects.
