ERA-NET Urban Accessibility and Connectivity (ENUAC) Innovation Action

Innovations for Managing Sustainable Urban Accessibility includes Sweden, Austria, Latvia, Turkey, the Belgian capital region and the Belgian Flanders region. What can you apply for?

We are looking for Swedish actors who in innovative ways and in collaboration with European actors want to promote sustainable mobility and accessibility in cities. The call is open for project which ranges from applied research to demo projects.

Who can apply?

The call is open to companies, research institutes, university colleges and universities, public actors and non-profit organizations. Swedish applicant needs to be part of a consortium with at least one player from one of the participating countries.

How much can you apply for?

There is no expressed maximum level for how much it is possible to apply for, but approximately SEK 10 million is budgeted for the Swedish part of the call. We expect to finance project participation for about 3-5 Swedish actors.

  • The focus of the call

    Urban transportation of goods and people accounts for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions and therefore requires a significant reduction, especially in a highly urbanized continent such as Europe. Innovative solutions to accelerate the transition to climate neutrality and increased attractiveness are in demand by cities of all types and sizes, which want to redistribute the city's limited space in favor of sustainable modes of transport and qualitative public space. Managing different types of accessibility in the city is an important part of such a process, and the focus of this call for proposals.

    Thematic areas

    The call is for project that contribute to at least one of the following thematic areas (English original text in parentheses):

    • Contributes to increased utilization of potentials and integration of measures for urban accessibility (Utilizing untapped potentials and mainstreaming of measures for managing urban accessibility)
    • Contributes to increased acceptance of and participation in measures that contribute to accessibility (Making measures for managing urban accessibility accepted and participatory)
    • Helps to make measures for managing urban accessibility more agile (Making measures for managing urban accessibility more agile)
    • Helps to make measures for managing urban accessibility efficient, robust and effective (Making measures for managing urban accessibility effective, robust and impactful)

    In this context, sustainable urban accessibility means the possibility of reaching destination points through an urban transport system, with a low environmental impact.

    More about the announcement

    The call is carried out within the framework of the European research and innovation collaboration ERA NET Urban Accessibility and Connectivity (EN-UAC). Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency participate as Swedish funding actors in the call. Countries that are included in Sweden in addition to the call are

    • Austria (FFG)
    • Belgium Brussels - Capital Region (Innoviris)
    • Belgium Flanders Region (VLAIO)
    • Latvia (VIAA) - prel.
    • Turkey (TÜBITAK)

    The international application process is coordinated by the Austrian FFG. This means that consortia submit their project applications to FFG's application system e-Call (Link can be found on the call's international website). A group of selected independent experts assess the consortia's applications on the basis of the assessment criteria established for the call and provide recommendations on which project should be funded. The actors financing the actors decide on funding based on the expert group's statement and taking into account the available budget.

    Based on the expert group's recommendations and with regard to the available budget, the Swedish actors included in project that have progressed in the process will receive a link to a closed application round in Vinnova's system. Swedish actors who are part of consortia that have had their proposal approved will receive funding paid by Vinnova.

    Approved project duration in the call is up to 30 months.
