Important results from the project

The aim has been to reduce vibration injury from hand-held machines by developing standards that can be used when setting requirements for high-frequency shock-like vibrations from e.g. impact wrenches which are almost totally neglected in current risk assessment. The project goals reached have been much more than expected by far since the results have laid the foundation for the new Machinery Product Regulation within EU meaning that all machines sold must declare shock vibrations.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** With the fact that the EU´s new Machinery Regulation will require transient shock-like vibrations to be declared by the machine manufacturers, this will lead to an incentive to reduce these from the machine manufacturers and that users will have the opportunity to choose machines with lower transient vibrations. This will very likely lead to a reduction in vibration injury.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** That the project was so successful is largely due to the fact that we have had an incredibly good network through our NollVib project and have been able to pursue the issue of transient vibrations towards the EU together with the Swedish Work Environment Authority, which has made a fantastic contribution.
