Call Innovative collaborations with the USA within XR - step 2

Purpose and goal

The goal of the project (step 2) is to, together with our partners in the USA, demonstrate the use of a large language model (LMM) to increase scalable and automatic generation of XR training directly from work instructions and training materials. The solution will be validated against existing data together with an American research institute. This will strengthen the value of the solution and form the basis for further commercialization by the project partners.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to result in increased availability and scalability of XR-based training in industry, contributing to safer work environments and fewer accidents. The impacts include faster competence development, increased gender equality and a more inclusive labor market. The solution can be scaled globally, reducing the need for physical training environments and contributing to sustainable industrial development according to the UNSDG 2030 goals.

Planned approach and implementation

The project begins with in-depth work on the intended platform and APIs provided by the American partner. The solution is then developed by Chalmers, with support from the American partner. A final phase of validation of the solution will take place on site in USA through user testing in an industrial testbed provided by the American partner. Finally, the results of the study will be published to spread knowledge about the potential of automated XR training in industry.
