Purpose and goal
The project´s goal was to develop and install a cloud-based solution for water quality monitoring in Mälaren, Stockholm, using connected sensors. The purpose of the project was to begin the development of commercially viable water quality monitoring systems and to explore communication technologies within the Internet of Things.
Expected results and effects
The project installed a sensor-based monitoring system for water quality in pilot scale, with sensors connected to nodes within the telecommunications network. The system was cloud-based and integrated into Ericsson´s IoT Accelerator platform where sensor data was stored and analyzed. The project also expects to result in future published scientific articles.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is part Digital Demo Stockholm cooperation initiated by the city of Stockholm. The project began with a pre-concept study during the fall of 2016, after which the development of platform and cloud-based services was performed early in 2017. Deployment of sensors was done in May 2017 to collect sensor data and development of basic algorithms. The project was evaluated during the autumn 2017.
