Important results from the project

Aim and goal of the project was increased knowledge and reduced waste from purchased products. Through increased knowledge about which areas that have large amounts of waste, which types of waste exist, new working methods have been created. This is in order to increase competence regarding how we could procure to reduce waste and environmental impact. Within the project, several procurement areas have been highlighted, the following have been worked on a little extra; portion forms and sealing film, work clothes, construction services, foodstuffs.

Expected long term effects

Within the project, a list of procurements have potential and which products/services currently generate waste has been created. Several proposals for requirements aimed at waste reduction and circular economy as well as proposals for an evaluation model have also been produced. Inventors who participated in the project feel that they have gained an increased insight in the area of waste minimization. Through workshops, competence-enhancing initiatives have taken place for large parts of the unit as well as clients. Written material exists to pass the knowledge on to more people.

Approach and implementation

An inventory of the current procurement plan/agreement was carried out and procurements/categories were selected. More in-depth dialogue with suppliers regarding specific environmental requirements has been conducted in the areas where procurement has been ongoing. This has led to several proposals for requirements, working methods aimed at dialogue, evaluation models and proposals for a procurement procedure aimed at waste reduction and circular economy being produced. Support documents have also been created that can be used widely going forward around certain parts.
