Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to investigate the possibility of developing virtual reality empathy exercises to create an understanding of how people with social, communicative and mental disabilities experience different situations at work. The solutions we identified is to develop empathy exercises in the form of 360-films, paired with educational material and a methodology for utilizing empathy exercises in work-life-oriented rehabilitation. We have also conducted a needs analysis to make sure that there is a market for these solutions.

Expected results and effects

The result of the project is that we have laid a good foundation for developing the empathy exercises and educational material and methodology in step 2. An important effect of our needs analysis and the contacts we have taken in the step 1 project is that we have already started to gain a momentum for the implementation of the solutions, since we have connected with several important players who can spread the results on a broad scale in Sweden and abroad. The expected effects of the step 2 project are more efficient workplaces where every person can come to his / her own.

Planned approach and implementation

During the project, we have carried out a thorough needs analysis concerning how different invisible disabilities manifest in the workplace, and regarding the training needs among employers, especially in the public sector. We have also worked together with people with invisible disabilities to develop concepts on the 360 films and how to produce them. Through these activities, we have succeeded in identifying good and productive forms of cooperation, as well as relevant project partners to include in step 2.
