Important results from the project
The project has achieved its objectives. The aim was to strengthen the link between theory and practice in engineering programs. Through credit-bearing workplace-based courses, teachers, examiners, and companies were involved, increasing mobility between academia and industry. The model provides students with networks and work experience during their studies. The project has strengthened collaboration with industry and improved opportunities for international students to remain in Sweden.
Expected long term effects
The project has validated a model that can be implemented in several education programs, industries and universities. The model is planned to be introduced in several engineering programs at Högskolan Väst.
Approach and implementation
The project has developed a generic model for workplace-based education through collaboration between Högskolan Väst, Högskolan i Skövde and the business community. Through course development, testing of courses and continuous evaluation, a model was created that can be applied broadly. The project exceeded the original plan by also including international internships and studies in Bangkok. The collaboration with IUC Väst, the Chamber of Commerce and the companies involved has worked well.
