Important results from the project

The major results of the project were that Vibicore was able to complete their drilling unit with improved features compared to their previous units. Adaptation and assembly in a traditional industrial robot (IRB6700) was done at RISE. Cognibotics also performed a calibration of this robot to increase its performance against a standard calibrated robot. The adaptation to work together with the Cognibotics PKM robot worked as intended and successful trials were made with both sets.

Expected long term effects

The hope is that this project leads to a complete solution being offered to the customer with VibiCore´s drilling unit together with a robot that Cognibotics has put its hand on, be it a calibrated industrial robot or their PKM robot. We are already seeing continued interest from prospective customers and other research institutions in Europe.

Approach and implementation

The project generally followed its plan. Due to findings during the development work, the planned schedule was slightly delayed as the initial development work of the drilling unit suffered from complications that could not be predicted, which made that task last longer than planned. It was resolved during the project and the other work packages could be completed, albeit a little late. Good cooperation between project parties has enabled us to complete the project in a satisfactory manner.
