Call | Collaborative project for civil-military synergies |
Purpose and goal
The project aims to introduce new materials and processes to enable an increase in production rate, improved working environment and reduced environmental impact. Through the project, a modern, more repeatable and resource-efficient manufacturing method is achieved of the protective covers for the radar systems in, among other things, fighter aircraft, robotic systems and missiles.
Expected effects and result
The goal is to enable the use of civilly established materials in high performance defense applications. By using innovative process solutions, quality can be improved, the production rate can be increased and energy consumption can be reduced. The project intends to contribute to NATO´s technology area "New materials and manufacturing" by both enabling the use of civilly established materials in high-performance defense applications to improve processability and reduce environmental impact.
Planned approach and implementation
The consortium consists of Swedish companies, universities, and institutes collaborating to strengthen Swedish competitiveness. This is achieved by working with cutting-edge materials and manufacturing processes that are often well-established internationally but lack implementation within Swedish industry. The project is led by Saab Dynamics, which, together with the consortium, conducts project meetings and follows up on project goals. Ongoing reporting to Vinnova and the Swedish Armed Forces.
