Important results from the project
The planning grant has enabled us to carry out activities that form the basis for a project application to the EIT Food Single Project Co-Funding Opportunity. These activities have included consortium formation, development of work packages, preparation of a budget, timeline, communication plan, and business model. With this foundation, the project is expected to achieve its main goal: to submit a complete application.
Expected long term effects
In the long term, provided that the project receives funding from EIT Food, we assess that the results will contribute to the development of new food packaging with a significantly lower climate footprint compared to current materials. Additionally, the improved packaging technology is expected to extend the shelf life of packaged food, which in turn could reduce food waste throughout the entire food supply chain.
Approach and implementation
Glenntex AB and Chalmers Industriteknik have held regular meetings where we discussed the project plan, shared information, and planned the ongoing work. Great emphasis was placed on establishing collaborations with suitable partners. The process of meeting and engaging large multinational companies was time-consuming, which resulted in the application being postponed to a later call.
