Important results from the project
The project met the goals of producing a comprehensive analysis and a concrete transformation map for the introduction of fully automated transportation in Sweden. The work has clarified critical system requirements in governance, regulation and implementation, and created a common direction between central actors. The project has thus laid a concrete foundation for the next step towards actual implementation.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to increased clarity and coordination in Sweden´s work on fully automated transportation. Through a common goal and structure, better conditions are created for investments, policy development and implementation. In the long term, this could enable the scalable introduction of autonomous mobility services with positive effects on road safety, accessibility and a more efficient transport system.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented through a combination of analytical work, international strategic analysis and dialogue with central actors in industry, authorities and other actors from the public sector. The approach worked well and enabled both breadth and depth. The timetable could be largely followed, with some adaptation to integrate insights from ongoing initiatives. The collaboration worked very well and contributed to a common understanding and anchoring of the results.
