Important results from the project
The overall aim to facilitate health professions´ workplace based learning (WL) through technology-supported preparation, has been explored. The aim to strengthen relations between the university, other WL parties and business has also been fulfilled through expanded collaboration. The project has explored and identified the need for preparation in different areas. Prototypes for technology support that meet these needs have been developed as an interactive 360 video in a health care environment and a VR-based module for training an educational activity (ECG).
Expected long term effects
This project has led to increased knowledge about perceived needs for support and preparation before WL in medicine and health. Based on identified needs, prototypes using techniques such as virtual reality and a 360 video, has been designed to improve the integration of campus-based teaching and WL. A modified model for cooperation between the university, VFU actors and industry has been developed within the framework of the project. It is considered to be able to contribute to continued VFU cooperation between the parties.
Approach and implementation
This project has been carried out in a series of workshops where results from previous workshops generated in-depth discussions and new results. Participants were concerned parties in healthcare, higher education and business. The modified collaboration model was based on data obtained through participant observation, as well as the project management´s prior knowledge of regulations, agreements and other formalities for WL. In collaboration with business, a technology support model that can serve as an example to meet the needs and challenges identified, has been designed.
