Important results from the project

The project aimed to identify the major issues that require collaboration in the future, in order to solve the challenges that have arisen in connection with the extreme rise of e-commerce. The project, through workshops with a broad constellation of actors, has identified 8 areas that require large-scale collaboration to lead e-commerce towards a sustainable utility model. The work has resulted in an identification of initiatives that need to take place in the future and which actors need to be involved in these to create change. The need for a cohesive node has also been identified.

Expected long term effects

With the help of actors from different private and public sectors, industries and disciplines, eight related problem areas were identified. These areas are strongly cohesive and revolve around "sustainable deliveries". By creating changes in one of these areas, a great effect is created on the entire system, which can contribute to the adjustment that is sought. In order to effectively bring about radical system change, there is a clear need to gather a collaborative strength around the identified areas.

Approach and implementation

A total of four workshops were conducted with about 20 participants at each occasion. A wide range of actors participated in each workshop where the participants worked in small groups of 4-6 people. The discussions revolved around the future vision of e-commerce based on eight different places that can be found in urban, sub-urban and rural environments. The material from the workshops was analyzed and compiled in the form of eight areas in need of change. A survey was conducted to increase reliability and share the preliminary results of the workshop series.
