Important results from the project

Overall, the project delivered the planned results, with the addressed questions explored as far as possible, leading to some being considered fully answered while others need further study. A digital handbook for Tiny Villages is taking shape to collect and structure knowledge from all related initiatives. Its purpose is to shorten the path to building and present the identified “minimum viable level” in key areas such as regulations, infrastructure, and collaboration.

Expected long term effects

A deeper collaboration between the university´s research subjects Design and Architecture as well as the project partners is expected to generate more relevant insights that can be implemented faster, with theses, student courses and research projects contributing. The handbook will be a long-term resource gathering knowledge from current and future partners, even beyond the project´s close. This feasibility study has laid the foundation for key chapters to create sustainable villages that meet housing needs of industry and other sectors.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out largely as planned when it comes to the activities and timeline. Collaboration exceeded expectations, especially between LTU Business and LTU where student projects and theses provided valuable input. Challenges arose in clarifying ownership models, temporary building permits, and identifying goal conflicts when the intended target group was also a stakeholder.
