Venture future prototypes in sustainable mobility
Call Shape the sustainable solutions of the future within the mobility or food system

Important results from the project

The project has resulted in a future prototype that promotes constructive dialogue with decision-makers and stakeholders in the food system about the future of cultured meat. The prototype contributes to increased understanding, reduced preconceptions and to bridging differences of opinion. It has been shown to approx. 1300 people, of which 200 have participated in longer discussions. The project has led to increased media attention about cultured meat and Re:meat has received more funding.

Expected long term effects

An improved dialogue on the future of cultured meat, and more people getting involved in this topic, could eventually lead to Sweden working towards regulatory approval of cultured meat within the EU. It may also contribute to more money being invested in research and development in this area, something that will strengthen Sweden´s innovation capabilities in novel foods and food manufacturing technologies.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in three phases: insight gathering and dialogue with stakeholders; design and production of the future prototype; and, launch and dissemination. The work was carried out as a valued collaboration where Re:meat contributed expertise and networks linked to the future of meat, and cultured meat – while EY Doberman and its future lab SALLY contributed expertise in foresight, speculative design, production of future prototypes, and facilitation of dialogue events.
