Purpose and goal
Public spending on welfare services is expected to exceed revenues in the future. The purpose of SNS´s research project "The organization and financing of health care" is to contribute to a research-based discussion about what should be included in the public sector commitment for health care and elderly care in the future, and how it can be financed.
Expected effects and result
SNS´s goal is that the project will result in 8-10 research reports, and about 10 seminars over three years. There will also be 2-3 reference group meetings per year. The reports will be communicated to a broad audience, e.g. through press work. The seminars are also made available through video and podcasts. In this way, the project is expected to spread new knowledge that can be translated into concrete advice on how to solve the cost-challenge facing Swedish health care and elderly care.
Planned approach and implementation
The project´s reference group provides feedback on the researchers´ work. This is an effective way to increase the policy relevance and applicability of the research results. The researchers are independently responsible for problem formulation, analysis, conclusions, and policy recommendations in the reports. The reports are reviewed by external researchers at academic seminars. All seminars are conducted according to SNS established routines and in cooperation with representatives from academia, business and management, and the research project reference group.
