Purpose and goal
BoMill and GrainSense aim to transform the grain industry by introducing an innovative, automated, high-precision system for sorting and monitoring grain quality. The goal of the project is to develop and demonstrate a grain sorting system that segregates grain into quality fractions based on insights into the protein content of each kernel.
Expected effects and result
The project result is a first demonstration of an intelligent system for automated quality sorting of grains based on analysis of the protein content of each kernel. The technology can make the grain industry more efficient, contribute to increased local food supply, reduce the grain industry´s C02 emissions and at the same time contribute to increased food safety.
Planned approach and implementation
The Eurostars project is divided into five work packages and is implemented in collaboration with GrainSense Oy from Finland. BoMill is involved in all work packages and leads four of the work packages. The work packages are: 1. Teknisk Proof- of-Concept 2. Development and integration of GrainSense and BoMills hardware 3. Software development and integration 4. Validation and demonstration 5. Project management, dissemination and exploitation strategy BoMill leads work packages 1, 3, 4, 5.
