Purpose and goal

The project has resulted in the establishment of close collaboration between the project leader/Karolinska Institutet and the Public Health Agency of Sweden. The project leader has been trained in safety and work routines for BSL-4 work at the Public Health Agency of Sweden. Common projects for method development and research projects have been initiated.

Expected results and effects

The project leader has been trained and examined in safety and work routines for BSL-4 work and gained the necessary competence to perform research in the BSL-4 laboratory at the Public Health Agency of Sweden. Collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and the Public Health Agency of Sweden has been strengthened and common research project are under development.

Planned approach and implementation

During the project period, the project leader has spent working time equivalent to 3 months fulltime work at the Public Health Agency of Sweden. The project leader was trained by biosafety and laboratory personnel from the Public Health Agency of Sweden; all planning and laboratory work was done in collaboration.
