Purpose and goal

The ambition of the project is to develop the board game Ecolibrium to be a more accessible and independent game that can reach a wider audience than in step 1. The game will be simplified to work without facilitators in educational, workshop and public settings, still keeping the scientific foundation. The goal for the project is to deliver a refined prototype that is easier to use, quicker to play and better adapted to wider audiences.

Expected effects and result

A more accessible game has a greater chance of reaching and engaging; stakeholders in the forest value chain, actors in academic education, and people interested in gaming but with no prior connection to the forestry sector. The reactions the project aims to generate are curiosity, engagement, and a deeper systemic understanding, rather than consensus, by allowing players to experience and observe how decisions in the forest value chain impact society, the climate, and everyday life.

Planned approach and implementation

The project consists of three phases: validation and requirements, game and content development, finally game testing, production, and demonstration. The first phase covers reviewing insights from Step 1 and updating the requirements analysis. The second phase explores ways to simplify the game without losing what made it interesting and engaging. The final phase focuses on making an updated version of the game accessible to target groups through relevant events.
