Important results from the project
The project aimed to initiate the development of an innovation competition. Project goals were to: a) Develop a process for an innovation competition that links education, research and innovation. b) Create a network of actors who will be active in the competition. A description of the contest is presented in the VINNOVA application with Reference number: 2013-04060. A network in order to realize an innovation competition has begun to be created.
Expected long term effects
We expect to get an idea if there is an interest to pursue an innovation competition that focuses on one or a maximum two challenges. Furthermore, we investigated whether it is possible to conduct this competition in the context of courses on the MSc program. Overall, there is a good opportunity to realize this innovation competition.
Approach and implementation
We have had discussions with persons responsible for civil engineering education program, patent experts, business developers, representatives from different companies, and Uppsala municipality. In workshops similar sessions the project team have then developed a description of an innovation competition. The development of the innovation competition has taken place in a number of iterative steps: A draft has been prepared by the project team. This has subsequently been presented to one or more key actors. On the basis of these discussions, then a modified draft was developed.
