Venture Advanced digitalization: System-changing initiatives
Call Advanced digitalization: System-changing initiatives, pre-study project 2025

Purpose and goal

The project pre-study is to establish a swedish-based, multi-tennant, high-performance computational infrastructure which is integrated with a next generation 5G/6G network as a test bed for advanced industrial AI applications. The project’s aim is to unify diverse stakeholders—industry, public sector, academia, and regulators—around a secure and scalable test and experimentation platform for industrial AI applications within healthcare, life sciences and digital health across Sweden.

Expected effects and result

By the conclusion of the feasibility study, we aim to have a clear, detailed blueprint for a multi-tenant, high-performance computing (HPC) cluster seamlessly integrated with the Northstar next-generation networking (5G/6G), along with a multi-year program proposal to establish a nationwide test and experimentation environment for industrial AI over the next 6–8 years.

Planned approach and implementation

This pre-study study will define a targeted program for a multi-site digital infrastructure—combining HPC and next-generation 5G/6G—for testing low-latency, data-intensive solutions together with advanced computing infrastructure. Partners will map stakeholders, assess feasibility, and develop a business plan. Tasks are divided into work packages with clear deliverables and timelines, all within a six-month pre-study period.
