Important results from the project

Systemic solutions are needed for validation in the future! With a working life in constant change, individuals´ knowledge needs to be better utilized. Educational stakeholders need to collaborate and find functional and flexible solutions. In the project, we have analysed and directed ways forward to achieve this. Needed measures are national framework for credit transfer, development of a digital decision support system, cultural change and incentives for higher education institutions.

Expected long term effects

By contributing with knowledge that is based on previous work, such as the validation delegation´s report (SOU 2019:69), and by having conversations with interested parties such as UKÄ, UHR, ministries, etc., the positions has been moved forward and we are making suggestions for what a systemic transition could look like. The validation process at the individual level is too time-consuming and financially unsustainable, and it also means a waste of resources at the individual level.

Approach and implementation

Step 1 focused on credit transfer and validation of real competence through mapping of the higher education institutions´ processes, interviews, international benchmarking. Step 2 focused on the remaining objective, how programme structures and SeQF can be interpreted and applied within both education systems and how a digital validation and decision support system can be designed. A report was conducted to analyse the project´s results for measures within education and labour market policy.
