Purpose and goal

In SODA we work for a change in society towards a more sustainable stormwater and cloudburst management with a focus on development district. It is about adapting our cities to ongoing and future climate changes where increased amounts of precipitation must be managed in the built environment, to reduce the number of pollutants released into our environment, while at the same time rainwater is reused as a resource. Stormwater and cloudburst management needs to be integrated as part of the urban planning process, which requires changed working methods, decision-making and cooperation.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to lead to more sustainable stormwater and cloudburst solutions are built and maintained at the same time that costly investigations, redoing and faulty constructions have been minimized. That knowledge, research and innovation in stormwater is collected and reaches a wider target group, as a result of which knowledge in society is generally raised. That developed methods, strategies and techniques become an obvious part of the community building process, both for i.e. and torrential rain, but also for other issues with a great need for coordination.

Planned approach and implementation

The project focuses on the key issues that need to be solved in order to achieve sustainable stormwater and cloudburst management on neighborhood land. The goal of the project is to break deadlocks and facilitate collaboration, this is done through (1) Process and organizational development (2) models for collaboration and co-financing (3) development of a coordination role for stormwater (4) procurement support and technology development (5) Training initiatives for a wide range of actors (6) internal and external communication.
