Important results from the project

The project achieved its set goals. The project result makes FoodFighters the first company in the world to be able to provide numerical health scores for foods. FoodFighters offers consumers research-based and automated guidance for healthier and climate-smart food choices. The project also contributed vital insights for the continued product development.

Expected long term effects

Food production accounts for 25% of our climate impact, and cause environmental problems such as reduced biodiversity, eutrophication and depletion of natural resources. Every second Swedish adult and every fifth nine-year-old is either overweight or obese. We need to take steps towards more sustainable food production and consumption. By automating sustainable choices, climate and environmental impact from our food can be reduced while at the same time an increase in public health is achieved.

Approach and implementation

The project consisted of seven work packages. The first three were carried out in collaboration with RISE. The work on designing and implementing user interfaces was carried out in collaboration with IBM and the design agency Familjen. The results were validated qualitatively and quantitatively through user tests. The IP strategy was developed together with the law firm Vinge. The timeline was affected by several external factors; pandemic, war in Ukraine, and the stagnant development of FMCG.
