Important results from the project

The project´s aim was to strengthen child welfare work through knowledge exchange between Sweden and Australia. The goal was to gather insights to develop and implement innovative methods in child protection. This included exploring and comparing investigative methods, interventions for children and youth, support for care leavers, and evaluation methods. The exchange with researchers and practitioners contributed to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in child welfare, facilitating the move towards a more evidence-based practice.

Expected long term effects

The project enhanced international collaboration, along with increased knowledge of effective methods in child welfare services. It has set the stage for further developmental work within social services. Expected impacts of the project include strengthened and more evidence-based practices, contributions to the academic discourse on child protection work, and a greater awareness of the importance of international cooperation. This aims to establish a more inclusive and supportive environment for children and youth in need of society´s protection and support.

Approach and implementation

The project was designed to foster analysis and reflection through study visits, workshops, and dialogue among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from Sweden and Australia. This enabled a review and comparison of different systems, providing key insights into how these can be improved and adapted to meet the specific needs of children and youth. The analysis highlights the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical insights and creating platforms for continuous learning and development within the field of children´s rights and child protection.
