Important results from the project
The aim is for research and innovation in the tourism and hospitality industry to deliver effects that are economic, occupational, social, cultural and environmental. The purpose of the strategic research and innovation agenda is to create a common vision and a commitment within the tourism and hospitality industry to enable prioritization of the necessary research efforts and investments in order to establish effective innovation skills within the Swedish tourism and hospitality industry.
Expected long term effects
In formulating the agenda seven priority areas emerged: Design and innovation Customer and market focus Industry statistics and surveys Creating unique products and services Cooperation between private and public sectors Digitalization Sustainable tourism and accessibility The hospitality industry can enhance Sweden´s competitiveness in the future by facilitating further research and to reinforce the innovation system for the industry.
Approach and implementation
Originally two agendas from the industry where granted with the encouragement to cooperate and create a common agenda.The agenda is based on 30 interviews and 5 workshops, in which 200 persons from the industry and the public sector participated. It uses the national strategy for the Swedish tourism and hospitality industry as its starting point.
